Abreu Advogados announces the promotion of twenty-four Trainee Lawyers to Associates following the completion of the firm’s traineeship programme. Over the past two years, the newly promoted Associates completed Abreu Advogados’ traineeship programme, during which they worked across a range of practice areas and sectors. The programme provided personalised guidance and was structured to foster the development of both technical and personal skills, contributing to their professional growth. This is also one of the largest groups ever to join the firm as Associates, reflecting Abreu Advogados’ continued growth.

Abreu Advogados places particular emphasis on attracting young and innovative talent, promoting a range of initiatives aimed not only at Trainee Lawyers but also at engaging law students and recent law graduates. These initiatives include opportunities for students to experience the day-to-day workings of a full-service law firm, as well as events and conferences designed to encourage discussion around the key issues expected to shape the legal sector in the coming years.

One of the initiatives created to implement this strategy is Project Olimpo. Made up of a diverse group of members, the team is responsible for analysing and developing strategies focused on the future and on talent at Abreu Advogados. It also assesses market trends and continuously adapts its methods for identifying and evaluating profiles, with the aim of improving the recruitment, attraction and retention of legal professionals.

Examples of some of the initiatives promoted by Abreu Advogados with a focus on attracting, retaining and developing talent include:

Open Day: An event aimed at final-year law students, offering them the opportunity to learn more about life at Abreu Advogados and about the entire professional structure responsible for delivering the firm’s objectives.

Challenge Day: An event that gives participants the opportunity to interact with lawyers from different practice areas and work through challenges involving both technical skills and soft skills. Participants in Challenge Day are also invited to an interview with the firm’s Partners, who subsequently select the professionals who will join the firm.

Abreu Sustainability School: A summer school developed in partnership with Abreu’s Knowledge Institute, dedicated to promoting debate, technical training and awareness among law students of sustainability-related topics. Each year, this innovative event gives participants the opportunity to deepen their understanding of current social and legal issues, with contributions from multidisciplinary speakers and the group development of practical projects.
