António Tavares Portugal is an associate lawyer and has been with Abreu Advogados since 2024. He has been working in the Litigation and Arbitration practice.
His practice focuses primarily on civil and commercial litigation, both domestic and cross-border, with a particular emphasis on advising domestic and foreign clients on civil and commercial disputes relating to breach of contract, civil liability, debt recovery and construction defects.
He plays an active role in providing both judicial and extrajudicial support to domestic and multinational companies, combining dispute prevention with dispute resolution.
His work includes drafting procedural documents, such as statements of claim, defences, appeals and other court documents.
He acts in legal proceedings before the Portuguese courts, as well as providing pre-litigation legal advice, assisting national and international clients in defining and implementing dispute resolution strategies.
He also has experience in advising airlines on administrative offence proceedings and court cases, in which he assists with responses to fines imposed by administrative authorities.

Advising domestic and international clients on contractual disputes, in particular regarding breach of contract, the interpretation and enforcement of contracts, and contractual liability;

Advising clients on property disputes relating to rights in rem, preliminary sale and purchase agreements, and construction contracts;

Advising creditors on debt recovery and restructuring;

Providing regular advice to airlines on regulatory matters and administrative and judicial proceedings;

Advising insurance companies in various judicial and arbitration proceedings at national level;

Advising on proceedings for the recognition of foreign judgments under Portuguese law and their enforcement in Portugal;

Drafting of legal opinions and analyses on matters of contract law, civil procedure and property law.
