Ana Rita Duarte de Campos clarifies jurisdictional competence
French national Cédric Prizzon is suspected of killing his current and former partners, whose bodies were found in Portugal, in the Bragança area. He was intercepted during a road policing operation on National Road 102 in Mêda on 24 March and is now being held in pre-trial detention.
Ana Rita Duarte de Campos, a Criminal Law specialist at Abreu Advogados, commented on the case on SIC Notícias’ programme Grande Edição, stating that “if it is concluded that the homicides took place in Portugal, the case will remain here”.
Even so, it has already been established that the offence of kidnapping was committed in Portuguese territory, since “four people were brought from France against their will”, in addition to the offences of document forgery, illegal possession of a firearm and desecration of a corpse.
