Pedro Barosa explains the role of psychology in the judicial system at ELSA NOVA Lisboa workshop

“Psychological Assessments in Criminal Proceedings – The role of psychology in the judicial system” was the topic presented by Pedro Barosa, coordinator of the Criminal Law practice area, at the Law and Criminal Psychology workshop promoted by ELSA NOVA Lisboa, which took place on 22 April.

This initiative set out to explore the connection between human behaviour and the justice system, enabling students to deepen their knowledge of an area where Law and Psychology intersect in a decisive way.

Throughout the session, participants were able to understand the psychological factors behind criminal behaviour, grasp the role of psychology in criminal proceedings, and learn how criminal responsibility and lack of criminal responsibility are assessed.
