Pedro Barosa comments on PJ searches at party headquarters
Commenting on CNN Portugal’s “CNN Fim de Tarde” programme, Pedro Barosa states that, although he does not believe the Socialist Party is a target of the investigation arising from the searches carried out by the Polícia Judiciária this Wednesday, those searches “were conducted at a party’s premises” and, therefore, in his view, “it is impossible to separate one thing from the other”.
The criminal law specialist at Abreu Advogados explains that “when searches take place, it means that, on the one hand, there are suspicions that a crime has been committed and, on the other, that the aim is to secure an element of surprise in order to gather genuine evidence without it being tampered with, so that it may serve the purposes of the investigation”.
