Ana Rita Duarte de Campos is a speaker at the conference “Administrative Offence Proceedings: Defence Guarantees and the Administration’s Sanctioning Powers”, taking place today, 23 February, at the Lisbon Regional Council of the Portuguese Bar Association.
The session will be opened by Carla Matias, Vice-President of the Lisbon Regional Council, and will focus on the analysis and discussion of procedural and substantive issues relating to administrative offence proceedings within the Portuguese legal system.
Topics under discussion include how the right to be heard and the right of defence are ensured for defendants in administrative offence proceedings, as well as the role of the Public Administration in the investigation, attribution of liability and imposition of sanctions in the context of administrative offences, including the legal limits and procedural safeguards that protect the rights of citizens and entities subject to such proceedings.
