Abreu Advogados advises Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners on offshore renewable energy project

The firm’s Energy and Natural Resources team is advising the Danish company on a project with investments of around 8 billion euros for 2GW of offshore wind power in Figueira da Foz, Portugal.

Designated Nortada, the project will be the first large-scale offshore wind farm in Portugal and is one of the most ambitious national projects in wind energy, positioning Portugal at the forefront of the international energy transition.

The Abreu Advogados team that advises Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners is led by José Eduardo Martins, partner at Abreu Advogados and co-coordinator of the Energy and Natural Resources team and of the Public Law and Environment practice, with the support of Mário João Fernandes, of counsel, and Guilherme Mata da Silva, associated partner, in a full service that includes the dimensions of maritime spatial planning, regulation of the electricity sector, environmental impact assessment, licensing of economic activities, framework for social and scientific partnerships, corporate and tax.

The expansion of the presence in Portugal to the offshore wind market follows the ambitions revealed by the Portuguese government in the area of offshore wind energy, as well as the preliminary results of the working groups set up for this purpose.
