Abreu Advogados strengthens its team with 14 new associates

Abreu Advogados announces the promotion of 14 trainee lawyers to associates, following their successful completion of the firm’s trainee programme. With this new round of promotions – twice as many as last year – the firm is reinforcing its commitment to young and innovative talent, renewing the teams in the various practice areas that make up the firm.

Over the last two years, the most recent associates have completed Abreu Advogados’ internship programme, where they have had the opportunity to work in various practice areas and sectors, with personalised support and a model designed to enhance the development of each individual’s technical and personal skills.

The new associates are: Catarina Mata (Employment); Diogo Pimenta (Finance); Francisca Seixas Barata (Private Clients & Family Businesses); Francisco Esteves de Almeida (Real Estate); Gabriela Almeida Picanço (Employment); Inês Miranda Rodrigues (Litigation and Arbitration); Mafalda Santos Cordeiro (Finance); Margarida de Oliveira Pedro (Public and Environment); Maria Rubina Silva (Intellectual Property and Information Technology); Mariana Brito e Esteves (Corporate and M&A); Mariana Pedro (Litigation and Arbitration); Pedro Hemsworth (Intellectual Property and Information Technology); Rosário Mexia Alves (Employment) and Soraia Vale (Litigation and Arbitration).

Abreu Advogados is currently developing the ‘People like you’ internship recruitment campaign, promoting the attraction of different profiles of lawyers who contribute to the sector with unique perspectives and disruptive knowledge in exploring the issues that will mark the legal services agenda in the coming years.

At the same time, the firm has developed a series of initiatives that involve students, with the aim of giving them an insight into the day-to-day running of a full-service law firm, seeking to promote debate and discussion on current and transformative topics that will mark the coming years.

One of the firm’s distinctive projects is an initiative called Project Olympus. This project is made up of a large group of Abreu Advogados staff from a wide range of areas, with the special aim of thinking about, analysing and promoting the attraction and retention of talent within the firm. This group also seeks to look to the future and see the changes in the market, adapting the search and analysis of the various profiles of young talent, improving the response and dynamism in recruitment, attraction and retention of future law professionals.

Examples of some of the initiatives promoted by Abreu Advogados, with a focus on attracting, retaining and training talent:

Open Day: an initiative which, as the name suggests, consists of an Open Day for final-year law students, who will have the opportunity to get to know our organisation and the entire professional structure that works every day to put the future into practice.

Challenge Day: An initiative that gives several candidates the opportunity to meet and talk to lawyers from various areas and solve challenges related to their technical and soft skills. Candidates who take part in this Challenge Day are also invited to an interview with the partners, who will then select those chosen to join the firm.

Abreu Sustainability School: a summer school that helps to promote debate, technical training and awareness among students in the final years of law courses. This innovative event allows participants to simultaneously develop their technical skills on sustainability-related topics and deepen their social and economic awareness through informative and interactive modules.
