Maria Rubina Silva is an associate and has been at Abreu Advogados since 2021, working mainly on Intellectual Property and Information Technology and on Technology, Media and Telecommunications matters.

She regularly advises national and international companies from various industries on the process of registering, licensing and transacting private industrial property rights, namely trademarks and patents, and copyright. In addition, she intervenes in the pre-litigation phase and in the resolution of disputes before the courts in matters of intellectual property law.

She supports and advises companies in the area of Consumer Law, particularly in the context of advertising campaigns and contests. She also has experience in the areas of e-commerce, technology and the internet, having collaborated on matters related to regulatory and compliance advice, cybersecurity and data protection, software development contracting, among others.

She also has experience as a legal secondment in Data Protection matters in an international food retail company, as well as professional experience in the area of Digital Transformation in a European Institution that operates in the field of Intellectual Property.

Experience

Assisting national and international companies in the restaurant, entertainment and health industries in administrative proceedings before the INPI and judicial proceedings before the CFI related to industrial property;

Collaboration in the prevention and/or resolution of intellectual property and information technology disputes, specifically in industrial law litigation, intellectual property and technology licensing, data protection and other regulatory issues;

Supporting international companies in customs intervention procedures arising from infringement of their proprietary industrial property rights;

Continuous and personalized advice to companies on e-commerce and privacy issues, including the creation and/or revision of terms and conditions, privacy policies and cookie notices for websites adjusted to the respective business reality and ensuring compliance with the requirements imposed by consumer law, advertising and the GDPR;

Assistance in negotiating and executing contracts in the field of intellectual property and technology;

Advising on specific regulatory issues in the telecommunications sector, including monitoring administrative proceedings with ANACOM;

Contributing to legal articles on intellectual property, data protection and TMT issues, with a view to developing knowledge and visibility in the area.
