NIS 2: update on the CNCS electronic platform and next steps for registration

The implementation of the NIS 2 regime in Portugal is entering a decisive operational phase. However, despite the statutory deadlines in place, the electronic platform of the National Cybersecurity Centre (“CNCS”) is not yet available and, at this stage, only allows users to simulate the applicability of the regime. Updates can be followed on the following page: myciber.gov.pt/SaberMais.

In this context, it is not yet possible to formally designate, via the platform, the persons responsible as required under the regime, nor to register the organisation. We anticipate that these functionalities will become operational following the publication of the CNCS Regulation, which was subject to public consultation and is expected to be published shortly. As such, the deadline for complying with these obligations is expected to be extended, and it is anticipated, for this purpose, that 20 days will be granted to complete these steps.

We therefore recommend that organisations continue to proceed with the internal appointment of the relevant persons responsible, namely the Cybersecurity Officer and the Permanent Point of Contact, as well as with the consolidation of the relevant documentation, to ensure a swift response as soon as the platform becomes operational.

Abreu Advogados is closely monitoring the development of this process and is available to assist organisations with their preparations.
