Abreu Advogados hosts the “Governing Agentic AI” Symposium
Abreu Advogados is partnering with the “Governing Agentic AI” Symposium, an initiative dedicated to the governance of agentic artificial intelligence systems, taking place on 6 and 7 May 2026 in Lisbon.
The first day of the event will be held at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, in Lisbon, in the Room Exposições, while the second day will take place at Abreu Advogados’ offices, bringing together national and international experts to discuss the main legal, ethical and regulatory challenges associated with the development and use of AI systems capable of making decisions, planning and executing tasks autonomously.
Over the two days, the programme will address topics such as the central dilemmas of agentic AI governance, embedded governance models, human oversight, civil liability, contracts, data protection, sustainability, AI agents’ rights and regulatory gaps in the European context. The debate will also focus on the impact of these systems on sectors such as justice, public services, cybersecurity and financial stability.
The initiative will feature the participation of Luís Barreto Xavier, consultant at Abreu Advogados and President of the Knowledge Institute, as well as other experts and researchers.
