Abreu Advogados assists Iberdrola in the environmental licensing of the largest solar plant in Europe
Abreu Advogados advised Iberdola in obtaining environmental licensing from Portuguese Agency of the Environment (Agência Portuguesa do Ambiente) for the construction of the largest solar photovoltaic power plant in Europe in Santiago do Cacém.
This undertaking, with an electricity production capacity of 1.2 gigawatts and an investment of around EUR 800 million, will be called Fernando Pessoa and will provide clean, cheap and locally produced energy sufficient to meet the annual needs of around 430,000 homes.
The Abreu Advogados team that developed the work was coordinated by Manuel Andrade Neves, partner and co-coordinator of the Energy & Natural Resources team of Abreu Advogados, with the support of Tiago Corrêa do Amaral, professional partner, and Madalena Bernardes Coelho, associated partner, of the Public & Environment team of Abreu Advogados.
