Abreu Advogados advised Newpal in the acquisition of Companhia Portuguesa de Amidos
Abreu Advogados, law firm, advised Newpal-Investimentos SGPS in the acquisition of 84% of the share capital of COPAM – Companhia Portuguesa de Amidos, S.A., for approximately 19.2 million euros.
Founded in 1937, COPAM is the only Portuguese starch industry and the leading company in Portugal in the production and commercialization of starch products for the food, pharmaceutical, paper and chemical industries.
Abreu Advogados’ multidisciplinary team involved in this transaction was headed by Marta Romano de Castro, partner, of the Corporate, Commercial and M&A practice area, and by Madalena Caldeira, professional partner, of the Employment practice area. Other members of the team included Patrícia Viana, partner, of the Real Estate practice area; Patrícia Perestrelo, professional partner, of the Employment practice area; Sónia Gemas Donário, professional partner, of the Competition practice area; Madalena Bernardes Coelho, associated partner, of the Public & Environment practice area, and trainee lawyers André Neves and Benedita Pombo.
