Abreu Advogados advises Symington Family Estates
Abreu Advogados advised Symington Family Estates, the largest producer of premium Port wines, in the purchase of Casa de Rodas, one of the historic properties of the Monção and Melgaço region, which includes a 17th century manor house and 27.4 hectares of vineyard, planted exclusively with the Alvarinho grape variety.
With the collaboration of Anselmo Mendes as winemaker and viticultural consultant, Symington has announced that they will produce, starting next year, the first Alvarinho wine made exclusively from the vineyard at Casa de Rodas.
The purchase of this property was advised by Abreu Advogados, through a team coordinated by partner Pedro Pessanha, with the participation of Diogo Pessanha, professional partner, and Benedita Pessanha, a senior associate lawyer.
Symington Family Estates had a turnover last year of 105 million Euros and is one of Portugal’s leading wine producers, owning and managing four major historic Port houses: Graham’s, Cockburn’s, Dow’s and Warre’s.
