Manuel Santos Vitor and Rita Albuquerque contributed to the article “The impact of AI on M&A transactions: opportunities, risks and emerging market practices”, published by the International Bar Association (IBA).
In the article, they analyse the growing impact of artificial intelligence on mergers and acquisitions, highlighting how these tools are transforming various stages of the process, from target identification and due diligence to the preparation of transactional documents, negotiation and post-closing integration.
The publication also addresses the main risks associated with the use of AI in a transactional context, including issues relating to accuracy, bias, the homogenisation of market practices and the need for human oversight. The authors also underline the importance of governance frameworks, verification protocols and the responsible use of these tools by law firms.
