Rita Albuquerque is a professional partner and has been at Abreu Advogados since 2024, working primarly in Corporate and M&A.

With more than 17 years’ experience, Rita Albuquerque develops her activity in the Corporate and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) practices, with specialization in mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, corporate reorganisations, joint ventures and commercial contracts.

She has advised several Portuguese and international clients, advising on and coordinating some of the biggest M&A deals in Portugal, representing leading companies and private equity funds in many different sectors, including but not limited to industry, distribution, retail, infrastructure, life-science, healthcare, tourism, hospitality, services, home décor and luxury products, new technologies & innovation, and the media.

Advises and assists the day-to-day of several renowned business groups, particularly in the areas of corporate law, commercial contracts, financial contracts and ESG (Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance) issues.

Experience

Advising a multinational company in the infrastructure and industry sectors in the acquisition of a leading company of the recycling sector in Portugal;

Advising a multinational company in the health sector within the incorporation of a joint venture with a partner in the same sector, aiming the strengthening of the positioning of both groups in the medical-pharmaceutical market in Portugal;

Advising several private equity funds on the acquisition of different national groups focused on the industry sector;

Advising different companies on the sale of national industrial groups to private equity funds, in particular on the plastics and recycling sectors;

Advising an international fund on the acquisition of a leading business group in Europe in the medical-pharmaceutical sector, involving 13 different jurisdictions, having been classified as the largest M&A operation in the medical-pharmaceutical sector in 2020;

Advising a multinational group in the acquisition of multinational companies in the paint and construction products industry;

Advising a company in the media sector regarding the acquisition of a varied portfolio of magazines and publications in Portugal;

Advising an international group in the infrastructure sector in the acquisition of the leading car park operator in the Iberian Peninsula, with activity in 6 different jurisdictions.
