António Andrade discusses the challenges of alternative dispute resolution in intellectual property in Madrid
António Andrade, partner at Abreu Advogados, will be a speaker at the PMAC IP & ADR Awareness Seminar, taking place on 27 October in Madrid. The event will bring together judges, business representatives and intellectual property specialists to discuss the role of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and the challenges arising from technological developments.
The lawyer will participate in the panel “The New Frontier of IP ADR: Technology, SEPs/FRAND, AI and Cross-Border Disputes”, focusing on emerging developments in alternative dispute resolution in intellectual property matters. The session will address the impact of new technologies and artificial intelligence, the challenges associated with standard-essential patents (SEPs) and fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory (FRAND) licensing terms, as well as the complexities of cross-border disputes.
Organised by the Patent Mediation and Arbitration Centre of the Unified Patent Court (PMAC), in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and Ovoli Frugoni Romero, the seminar aims to promote discussion on the use of mediation, arbitration and other alternative mechanisms for resolving intellectual property disputes.
The programme will also include sessions dedicated to selecting the most appropriate dispute resolution mechanisms and fostering a culture of alternative dispute resolution, bringing together specialists from different jurisdictions to share experiences and perspectives on developments in this field.
