Abreu Advogados and Instituto de Conhecimento partner with Católica Global School of Law’s LL.M.
Abreu Advogados and Instituto de Conhecimento (Knowledge Institute) have joined Católica Global School of Law as partners of the LL.M. Law in a Digital Economy, a programme focused on the intersection between law, technology and the digital economy, designed to prepare legal professionals for the legal challenges arising from new technologies and digital business models.
Luís Barreto Xavier, of counsel in the firm’s Intellectual Property and Information Technology practice and President of Instituto de Conhecimento, is part of the faculty of this LL.M., where he teaches the course “The Law of Artificial Intelligence”.
Throughout these classes, which will take place in January and February, the relationship between artificial intelligence and the law will be examined in detail, combining theory, technology, ethics and legal regulation. The main objective is to provide students with theoretical and practical tools to understand, assess and legally regulate AI systems, including essential technical aspects and contemporary ethical and legal challenges.
“This LL.M. programme equips lawyers to shape regulatory thinking in a global digital environment, with a particular focus on AI. Teaching and engaging with a cohort of highly motivated students from around the world is an immensely rewarding experience. As Founding Dean of the Global School of Law, I am especially pleased to see these programmes steadily expanding their international reach and appeal“, says Luís Barreto Xavier.
