Sónia Gemas Donário strengthens commitment in the Competition area and Art & Entertainment industry

Sónia Gemas Donário is the new professional partner of Abreu Advogados and reinforces the Competition, Regulatory and EU practice area and the Arts & Entertainment industry. This integration reflects Abreu Advogados’ growth strategy and its affirmation path as one of the leading independent law firms in Portugal.

With a Law Degree by the Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de Lisboa (FDUL) and a Master Degree in Legal and Community Sciences from the same university, Sónia Gemas Donário has a vast experience in Competition Law and EU Law, a department she coordinated at Albuquerque & Almeida Advogados, from where she moved to Abreu Advogados. She was a trainee at the Court of Justice of the European Union and a lawyer at Autoridade da Concorrência (the Portuguese Competition Authority), where she was a representative of the organization in several working groups within the European Commission. In addition, she has a wide experience in the cultural sector, advising several relevant companies in the entertainment area and cultural associations on issues related to Art and Cultural Heritage Law.

Sónia Gemas Donário’s academic career also includes post-graduate courses in “Energy Law” at FDUL, “European Law and Integration Law” from FDUL’s European Institute; “Public Regulation and Competition” from Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de Coimbra; “Public Procurement Law” from FDUL and “Art Market and Collectorism” from the FSCSH at Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
