Observador | Pro Bono | Labour Code Amendments: What to Expect

What is at stake with the Agenda do Trabalho XXI, the Government’s reform proposal for the current labour legislation? Patrícia Perestrelo, of counsel at Abreu Advogados and co-coordinator of the Employment Law practice area, explains the amendments under discussion and what they mean for both employees and companies.

“There are around 100 articles set to be amended and, in the Government’s words, the objectives are flexibility, modernisation – to adapt to new forms of work – and balance, in the sense of correcting certain measures from previous reforms which created resistance among companies and ended up becoming obstacles to business activity.”

From probationary periods to flexible working hours and fixed-term contracts, Patrícia Perestrelo clarifies some of the biggest questions raised by the draft proposal to amend the Labour Code.

Every Thursday at 4:35 pm, on the programme Pro Bono, Abreu Advogados and Rádio Observador help companies make decisions, understand the most complex aspects of the law, and shed light on some of today’s most relevant issues.
