João Lupi highlights Abreu Advogados’ role in shaping European rules on access to space
João Lupi gave an interview to Jornal de Negócios on Abreu Advogados’ role in leading a European consortium working on the future rules on access to space.
Abreu Advogados is leading this project together with the Atlantic Spaceport Consortium, bringing together 14 members from several countries, with the aim of preparing a regulatory proposal to be submitted to the European Commission by June 2027.
In the interview, he underlines the importance of a regulatory framework that promotes the European Union’s strategic autonomy, reduces external dependencies and encourages the development of space launch centres, including the Malbusca Launch Centre, on the island of Santa Maria.
According to João Lupi, this is “an important milestone for Portugal” and an opportunity to strengthen both national and European positioning in a strategic sector for the future of the space economy.
