João Lupi outlines the space trajectory for Portugal in an article published in IBA

João Lupi, senior associate lawyer at Abreu Advogados and coordinator of the Space and Satellites Law sector, has written the article ‘Portugal’s trajectory towards an exclusive club of space forward European nations’, published in the International Bar Association (IBA).

The lawyer writes about Portugal’s progress in the European space sector, highlighting the fact that, since 2019, the country has had its own space agency, ‘Portugal Space’, and a national strategy called ‘Portugal Space 2030’.

João Lupi stressed that Portugal has implemented a robust legal framework for space activities, allowing private companies to establish and operate launch centres on national territory, with initial licences of up to 15 years, renewable under certain conditions.
