Webinar: The draft of the new EU Space Act
On 15 September, between 12:30pm and 2:00pm (CEST), the webinar “The Draft of the New EU Space Act” will take place, an initiative dedicated to analysing the draft European regulation for the space sector. The event is co-organised by Abreu Advogados, Augusta Abogados, De Gaulle Fleurance, HEUKING and Nereus. João Lupi, co-coordinator of the Space and Satellites sector, will be one of the speakers.
On 25 June, the European Commission presented the long-awaited draft regulation, which aims to establish a uniform legal framework for space activities and the provision of space services within the European Union. This legislative proposal seeks to create a level playing field, ensure the safe and sustainable use of space, and strengthen the competitiveness of Europe’s space industry.
During the webinar, the main opportunities and challenges arising from this new regulatory framework will be discussed. Key topics include:
-
Which companies will be affected?
-
Which services and activities will fall within the scope of the regulation?
-
What obligations will apply?
-
How will the authorisation procedure be structured once the regulation enters into force?
-
What are the implications for SMEs and startups?
-
What is the expected timeline for the implementation of the new obligations?
-
What steps should stakeholders take immediately, and which can be deferred?
This event represents a unique opportunity for all space sector stakeholders to gain an understanding of the scope and practical implications of the forthcoming EU Space Act, and to prepare for the new regulatory landscape that will shape space activities in Europe in the years to come.
