Patrícia Perestrelo explains the main proposed amendments to the Labour Code
Patrícia Perestrelo, partner and co-coordinator of the Employment Practice Area at Abreu Advogados, explains in an article published by Human Resources Portugal what is at stake with the comprehensive revision of the Labour Code.
The draft bill “Work XXI”, presented by the Government, proposes a wide range of amendments aimed at increasing productivity, competitiveness and employment, amending more than one hundred articles.
Among the main proposals are: the broadening of the concept of economic dependence for self-employed workers; the possibility for flexible working hours to be proposed by the worker; the elimination of the extension of the trial period for young people seeking their first job and for the long-term unemployed; new rules for fixed-term contracts; the repeal of the ban on outsourcing for posts that have been made redundant in the previous 12 months; among other changes.
