Alexandra Courela and Susana Duarte highlight the Portuguese lack of legal and fiscal regulation regarding cryptoassets
Alexandra Courela, Partner at Abreu Advogados, and Susana A. Duarte, Senior Associate at Abreu Advogados, in statements to Lusa (largest news agency in Portugal) underline that it is a fact that Portugal has been increasingly sought after by investors in cryptoassets, largely because it is pointed out as a crypto-friendly country, when in reality “the same media that identify Portugal as a cryptocurrency-friendly country fail to explain that there is not a more favourable regime, but rather an absence of legal and fiscal regulation”. This absence, they point out, “necessarily entails uncertainty”.
