José Rijo discusses opportunities arising from the EU–Mercosur Agreement at the AICEP Forum 2026

José Rijo, of counsel at Abreu Advogados and a specialist in Customs Law and International Trade, will take part in the AICEP Forum 2026 on 30 September, at Palácio da Bolsa, in Porto.

José Rijo will join the session “EU–Mercosur Agreement: Opportunities for Portuguese Companies”, dedicated to analysing business opportunities in the markets of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, as well as the framework governing trade relations between the European Union and Mercosur countries. The session will also feature Chris Ruff, Policy Coordinator at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Trade.

The session will address the opportunities that developments in trade relations between the two blocs may create for Portuguese companies, particularly in terms of exports, investment and international expansion. It will also examine the main customs and trade considerations for companies looking to develop or strengthen their activity in these markets.

Under the theme “Portugal in the Global Market: Competitiveness and the Future”, the AICEP Forum 2026 will bring together institutional representatives, experts and business leaders to discuss the challenges of internationalisation, investment, innovation and Portugal’s positioning in global markets.
