Abreu Advogados contributes to international guide on Portugal’s insurance sector
Abreu Advogados authored the chapter dedicated to Portugal in the latest edition of Country Update – Portugal: Insurance, published by Thomson Reuters Regulatory Intelligence.
The chapter was prepared by Ana Sofia Batista, Joana Maldonado Reis, Jorge Morais and Nuno Sapateiro, who analyse the legal and regulatory framework applicable to the Portuguese insurance and reinsurance sector.
The guide provides a comprehensive overview of the national market, including the powers of the Portuguese Insurance and Pension Funds Supervisory Authority (ASF), the requirements for carrying out insurance activities in Portugal, the rules governing insurance distribution, supervisory mechanisms and consumer protection obligations.
