Alexandra Courela to speak at the Cambridge Forum on International Tax & Disputes 2025

Alexandra Courela, partner at Abreu Advogados, will be a speaker at the “Cambridge Forum on International Tax & Disputes,” on the panel “Special Entities: Challenges & Opportunities,” on 23 May, in Cascais.

The panel that will explore some of the more unusual issues arising in the context of international taxation.

A lot of entities are not expressly recognised in the legislation of certain jurisdictions—particularly in civil law countries—which presents significant challenges in cross-border scenarios. In addition, these entities are often fiscally transparent and therefore may not be entitled to directly claim treaty benefits.

The panel will examine how different jurisdictions address these situations and what structuring opportunities may be available.

With increased transparency and information sharing amongst tax authorities, the Forum provides an opportunity to keep abreast of developments in key jurisdictions around the world.
