Ana Manuela Barbosa is an Associated Partner and has been at Abreu Advogados since 2010, working primarily on matters related to labour in the context of company incorporations and corporate restructuring operations as well as on the ongoing management of companies involving Human Resources.
As regards company incorporations, she focuses particularly in matters related to hiring employees, drafting internal regulations, drafting documentation inherent to the labour relation, communications with authorities and drafting informative documents on the Portuguese labour regime as well as organising internal training sessions. As regards ongoing Human Resources, she drafts and amends employment contracts, and advises on issues regarding contractual management and salary processing, which includes, for example organizing work periods, altering employment site and/or professional categories, holidays, absences and calculating salary credits and issues related to work place safety and hygiene, in addition to collective bargaining agreements.
She has conducted disciplinary action proceedings, specifically disciplinary proceedings aimed at dismissal with just cause. She has also conducted proceedings related to collective dismissal and redundancy. Her focus on corporate advisement encompasses advising and monitoring issues related to Social Security and labour disputes, conducting judicial and administrative offenses proceedings.
She has extensive experience advising on Labour in the catering, hotel, automotive, logistics, extraction, construction, industry and healthcare sectors.

Advising on the initiation of activities and ensuing ongoing management, on all matters related to human resources of a company belonging to a major multinational French group in the banking sector who is expected to employ approximately 600 employees in the first three years of activity;
Advising a multinational company (who in some case employ approximately 300 employees) in the catering hotel, automotive, extraction, construction, industry and healthcare sectors regarding all labour related matters (in coordination with corporate and dispute advisement) focusing on the prevention of litigation;
Advising multinational companies in the footwear industry on closing its business, conducting collective redundancy proceedings;
Advising on the restructuring of a company in the freight forwarding sector which included a collective redundancy proceeding of approximately 80 employees;
Advising on the restructuring of one of the main companies in the postal and financial sector related to the negotiation and termination of employment contracts;
Advising a multinational company in the industry and healthcare sectors in the context of lay off;
Advising a company in the construction sector on the process for collective redundancy in connection with a Special Revitalization Proceeding (PER).
