Francisco Patrício advocates for faster justice to enable effective corporate restructurings
In comments to Jornal Económico, Francisco Patrício stated that “without a serious political agreement between the mainstream governing parties,” it will not be possible to address the systemic delays in the justice system that hinder corporate restructuring in Portugal and reinforce the stigma linking such processes to insolvency and business failure.
The Abreu Advogados partner emphasises that, in order to achieve faster and more effective proceedings, it is essential to “instil greater speed in the justice system.” He points to the limited number of court clerks and specialised courts as key issues. “All of this leads to delays that are incompatible with the swift and effective restructuring we need,” he asserts.
