José Eduardo Martins speaks at the 19th Waste Forum
Abreu Advogados is once again supporting the Waste Forum, which takes place on 17 and 18 November at LNEC in Lisbon. In its 19th edition, the event will feature contributions from José Eduardo Martins, who will address topics related to the TERRA Action Plan and textile waste.
On 17 November, at 11:45 a.m., the Abreu Advogados partner will answer questions such as: “What opportunities exist to strengthen private-sector involvement in this area?”, “What obstacles need to be overcome?”, and “Is there openness within the urban and non-urban waste sectors to the creation of energy recovery units to process this waste?”
On 18 November, the highlighted topic will be “Removing Emerging Streams from Landfills”. Some of the key points on the agenda will include: “What is the impact of the lack of selective collection of textile waste and furniture and mattresses on urban waste management?” and “What initiatives are being developed in Portugal to implement the principle of extended producer responsibility (EPR) for emerging streams?”
Overall, the programme will address challenges such as implementing the TERRA Action Plan to prevent landfill exhaustion, strengthening energy recovery from waste, infrastructure sharing, extended producer responsibility systems, and the first year of operation of SIGRE.
