Abreu Advogados’ 2025 Law and Technology Award dedicated to the theme “Content Moderation and AI”
Applications are now officially open for the 8th edition of the Law and Technology Award, promoted by Abreu Advogados and the Knowledge Institute. This award aims to foster the integration of young legal professionals into contemporary legal practice, shaped by digital transformation and emerging technologies.
The 2025 edition is dedicated to the theme “Content Moderation and AI”, reflecting the challenges of freedom of expression and digital regulation in the age of artificial intelligence.
The winner will receive a €1,000 prize, along with an invitation to undertake a professional internship at Abreu Advogados, scheduled to begin in September 2026.
Applications must be submitted by 19 September 2025 to [email protected], including a CV and a short written response (one to two paragraphs) to the following question:

“Content moderation and AI: freedom of expression or invisible censorship? How can democracy be defended in the digital age?”

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to present their reflections orally before a jury composed of Catarina Mascarenhas (Of Counsel at Abreu Advogados), Helder Galvão (Of Counsel at Abreu Advogados), Luís Barreto Xavier (President of the Knowledge Institute at Abreu Advogados), and Ricardo Henriques (Partner at Abreu Advogados).
