Francisco Patrício discusses fraud and corruption in Portugal in an interview with Jornal Económico
Francisco Patrício, partner at Abreu Advogados, states in an interview with Jornal Económico that there is a “clear intention to respond more effectively” to the challenges posed by fraud and corruption, citing as examples the National Anti-Corruption Strategy, the creation of the National Anti-Corruption Mechanism (MENAC), and the transposition of European directives on whistleblowers and compliance.
He notes, however, that Portugal “is still in the process of building the institutional maturity required to respond efficiently and swiftly”.
Last weekend, Abreu Advogados hosted the annual meeting of the International Fraud Group (IFG), which addressed concerns and risks in the fight against economic crime and featured the participation of Francisco Patrício.
