Abreu Advogados will host the annual International Fraud Group meeting in Lisbon

Abreu Advogados, the sole Portuguese law firm to join the International Fraud Group (IFG), will be hosting the esteemed annual meeting of this international group in Lisbon on 17 and 18 May.

The event will bring together specialists in asset recovery and fraud prevention, including representatives from various jurisdictions, and will be held at the offices of Abreu Advogados.

The program includes strategic working sessions, networking opportunities, and discussions on the current challenges in the field, including fraud arising from digital transformation.

Francisco Patrício, Partner and Head of the Restructuring and Insolvency practice area at Abreu Advogados, will welcome participants on the second day of the event. The keynote speaker will be Pedro Verdelho, Public Prosecutor specialized in cybercrime and current Chair of the Cybercrime Committee of the Council of Europe, who will deliver a presentation on “Cybercrime in the Global Context.” Gary Miller, President of the IFG, together with other renowned guest speakers, will discuss global trends in tackling economic crime, with a particular focus on emerging issues such as the role of cryptocurrencies and cross-border investigations.

The International Fraud Group has been active for over 30 years, bringing together 48 members across 27 jurisdictions, and was recently ranked Band 1 in the Chambers & Partners Global Guide 2024. Abreu Advogados’ participation in this network highlights its commitment to providing innovative and effective legal solutions against complex economic crime.
