Mafalda Santos Cordeiro is an associate and has been at Abreu Advogados since 2022, working mainly on Finance Law.

She is particularly involved in matters of financial supervision and regulation, including authorization processes for regulated entities with supervisory bodies, as well as advising on capital markets and entities that provide services with virtual assets, payment service providers, payment institutions and electronic currency issuers, crowdfunding platforms, financial companies and banking institutions.

She has also provided legal advice on regulatory issues related to sustainability and ESG, particularly in the area of reporting duties relating to sustainability, as well as providing regulatory support in the area of carbon credits and the voluntary carbon market.

Experience

Advising the Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) on its authorization process with the Bank of Portugal to carry out virtual asset activities;

Advising an international provider of solutions for the payments sector on the acquisition of a qualified holding in a digital payment service provider;

Advising a crowdfunding platform on obtaining authorization from the CMVM to operate under the European Crowdfunding Regulation;

Advising a multinational group on the application of reporting obligations under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive;

Advising international entities on their operations in the Portuguese market;

Advising a banking sector entity on a contract to provide ESG software services;

Advising an international entity on the voluntary carbon market;

Advising on the revision of a national credit institution's bail-in playbook.
