André Modesto Pinheiro is a Professional Partner and has been at Abreu Advogados since 2019 having particular intervention in Financial Law.

He works predominantly in the areas of Financial Law and Venture Capital, with a particular focus on acquisition finance, real estate finance, start-up investment, and preparing investment rounds, private equity, and venture capital.

He worked in the Banking and Finance department of a London-based law firm as an International Associate, gaining significant experience in the area of funds finance.

He began his professional career at a Spanish law firm in Madrid.

Since 2023, he has been a member of the Executive Committee of AIJA – International Association of Young Lawyers.

Work Experience

  • Advising on international financing transactions, real estate financing and refinancing transactions, and acquisition financing;

  • Advising financial institutions on various fund financing transactions (fund finance);

  • Advising on the simultaneous refinancing of two shopping centres with different banking syndicates;

  • Advising on investment rounds for several of Portugal's most innovative start-ups and scale-ups, both on the investor side and on behalf of the founders; •

  • Advising two financial institutions on the simultaneous transfer of three non-performing loan (NPL) portfolios.

  • Advising on the acquisition of the largest Portuguese investment bank;

  • Participation in several of the largest capital market transactions carried out in the Portuguese market, including: (i) business combination of a Portuguese telecommunications operator and a Brazilian telecommunications operator and (ii) public takeover bid for the largest Portuguese telecommunications company;

  • Advising an international banking syndicate on the financing of the acquisition of the largest motorway concessionaire in Portugal.
