Luís Barreto Xavier moderates webinar on EU’s Artificial Intelligence Act

Luís Barreto Xavier, president of the Abreu Advogados Knowledge Institute (Instituto de Conhecimento) since 2019, will moderate the webinar ‘EU Artificial Intelligence Act: The impacts of the European Union’s Artificial Intelligence Act’ on October 7th.

The meeting is promoted by the Italian Chamber of Commerce and the Italian Embassy in Portugal and presents itself as a unique opportunity for dialogue between experts, institutions and companies on the future of Artificial Intelligence in Europe, through a detailed analysis of the regulatory framework recently approved by the European Union (EU AI Act).

Luís Barreto Xavier will moderate the session ‘The main aspects of the European Union’s Artificial Intelligence Act’ with the participation of the two co-rapporteurs of the AI Act, Brando Benifei and the president of the Portuguese Association for Artificial Intelligence, Goreti Marreiros.

The event, which is scheduled to last two hours, will be available in Italian and Portuguese, with a simultaneous translation service. Participation is free, subject to registration.

On October 9th and 10th, Luís Barreto Xavier will also take part in a number of other events dedicated to Artificial Intelligence, including a meeting of the Portuguese Banking Association’s Data Protection Group alongside Abreu Advogados partner Ricardo Henriques, a lecture on AI Regulation for PhD students in AI at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP) (ISEP), a lecture on AI and Justice organised by the Association of Catholic Jurists in collaboration with Capela do Rato, and the conference ‘Sharing Ideas: AI and HR: how one impacts the other’, organised by Abreu Advogados.
