Abreu Advogados’ Knowledge Institute joins Católica and Instituto Superior Técnico to launch course on Law and Practice of Artificial Intelligence

Building on the work developed since 2018 by the Research Group on Law and AI at the Católica Research Centre for the Future of Law, the Knowledge Institute of Abreu Advogados, in partnership with the Lisbon School of the Faculty of Law of Universidade Católica Portuguesa — through Católica Next — and Instituto Superior Técnico (Técnico+), is launching the course “Law and Practice of Artificial Intelligence”.

The AI Act is a lengthy and complex piece of legislation, the understanding of which benefits from an interdisciplinary approach that combines technological and legal perspectives. This is one of the key strengths of the course, which brings together a teaching body composed of academics from various disciplines — including law, engineering, and ethics — as well as legal practitioners and industry professionals.

The programme provides an in-depth exploration of the applicable regulatory framework, adopting a practical approach aimed at organisations that are integrating, or planning to integrate, Artificial Intelligence into their operations — whether as providers, implementers, importers, distributors, or authorised representatives.

This intensive course will run from 1 October to 3 December, comprising a total of 40 hours of in-person sessions. Applications are now open.
