Law and Technology Award 2026 launches a challenge for law students on Agentic AI.

The Abreu Advogados Instituto de Conhecimento (Knowledge Institute) is conducting the 9th edition of the Law and Technology Award, a competition designed to recognize and recruit young legal professionals prepared to practice law in a context of profound technological transformation.

Open to final-year law students and graduates enrolled in an LL.M. program or a master’s degree, the competition invites participants to address the following challenge:

“The growing autonomy of Agentic AI systems challenges traditional legal categories, such as contract, liability, representation, capacity, or legal personality. Choose a new issue raised by Agentic AI and propose ways to resolve it.”

Candidates must submit their resume and a summary of their response (one or two paragraphs) to [email protected] by September 15, 2026.

The Award

The winner of the Law & Technology Award will receive a cash prize of €1,000 and will be invited to complete a professional internship at Abreu Advogados beginning in September 2027.

How It Works

After the application deadline, the best applications will be shortlisted, and the respective candidates will be invited to present their responses orally before a jury composed of Ricardo Henriques, Catarina Mascarenhas, Helder Galvão, and Luís Barreto Xavier at the Abreu Advogados offices.

The top-ranked candidates will then be interviewed to select the winner.
