Abreu Advogados leads private equity and venture capital in the Portuguese market

Abreu Advogados stood out in the Portuguese transactional market in the first four months of 2026, leading by value the transactions advised on in the private equity and venture capital segments, with a total of EUR 20 million, according to TTR Data figures reported by Jornal Económico.

In a period marked by a decline in transactional activity in Portugal, both in terms of number of transactions and capital raised, Abreu strengthened its position among the leading national legal advisors. Between January and April, the Portuguese market recorded 141 transactions, down 32.9% year on year, involving EUR 1.396 billion, a decrease of 28.6%.

Despite this slowdown, Abreu Advogados once again asserted itself among the firms with the strongest market presence. In the overall legal advisors ranking, by value and number of transactions advised on, the firm ranked third, with EUR 35 million, behind VdA and PLMJ.

This performance is particularly relevant in the private equity and venture capital segments, areas in which Abreu led by value of transactions advised on. These markets continue to play an important role in national transactional dynamics, even in an environment of lower liquidity and greater investor selectivity.
