Nuno Rijo is an Of Counsel at Abreu Advogados, having joined the firm in 2026, working mainly in the areas of Customs Law and International Trade.
His professional practice focuses primarily on the areas of Customs Law and International Trade, with a particular emphasis on matters related to customs regimes, tariff classification, customs value, origin of goods, and customs debt, as well as criminal and administrative proceedings in this field.
His practice involves providing legal advice, both in an advisory and litigation capacity, to economic operators involved in the import and export of goods, as well as to direct and indirect customs representatives, regarding their reporting obligations to national and European customs authorities.
He also has significant experience in other areas of law with regulatory and sanctioning implications, namely labor law, personal data protection, public procurement, and environmental law, maintaining a cross-cutting and integrated approach to clients’ needs.

Providing regular legal counsel to industrial and commercial companies regarding their activities in the manufacture, processing, marketing, import, and export of goods across various sectors.

Representation of companies in administrative and judicial proceedings related to the assessment of customs duties, following physical and documentary inspections conducted by customs authorities.

Assistance to economic operators in inspection proceedings initiated by customs authorities, including the application of anti-dumping duties, countervailing duties, and other trade policy measures.

Legal representation of companies, customs brokers, logistics operators, and freight forwarders in criminal and administrative proceedings involving customs matters.

Advising companies on labor law matters, including drafting individual employment contracts, conducting disciplinary proceedings, and negotiating contract terminations.

Legal support for companies in matters of personal data protection, including the drafting of privacy policies and contracts between data controllers and processors.

Advising and representing contracting authorities and bidders in public procurement proceedings, including pre-contractual litigation.

Legal representation of companies in the textile sector in environmental administrative violation proceedings, at both the administrative and judicial levels.
