José Pedro Vasconcelos is a trainee lawyer and has been at Abreu Advogados since 2022, having worked in different areas of Law, with a particular focus on criminal Law and administrative offences.

He is particularly involved in drafting legal opinions and procedural documents, such as defences and appeals, in highly complex cases, both in criminal and administrative law, including cases involving economic and financial matters, tax and market crimes, and money laundering.

He also plays an active role in responding to administrative offence proceedings brought by regulatory authorities, in particular ANACOM and the Bank of Portugal, participating in the definition of procedural strategy and the preparation of the respective defences.

He has been involved in the detailed analysis of complex legal regimes, such as the Framework Regime for Administrative Offences in the Communications Sector and the rules applicable to the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing, ensuring coordination between the applicable regulatory frameworks and the technical and regulatory documentation required by the supervisory authorities.

Experience

Advising a multinational retail company in the preparation of defences in administrative offence proceedings related to the placing of products on the market in violation of applicable labelling and technical compliance rules;

Advising an international company in the large-scale distribution sector in administrative offence proceedings brought by the communications regulatory authority, involving alleged non-compliance with technical and documentary obligations relating to electronic equipment.
