João Lupi and Leonor de Sá e Frade pave the way for Space Law in an opinion article published in Jornal de Negócios
‘As humanity currently enjoys greater access to outer space activities and resources, the use of outer space could be on the political agenda for decades to come,’ write Abreu Advogados senior associate João Lupi and trainee lawyer Leonor de Sá e Frade in an opinion article published by Jornal de Negócios.
Based on the conclusions drawn from the United Nations Summit for the Future, which took place in New York between 22 and 24 September, the authors focus on the importance that the space sector will have in the near future, as well as international cooperation and regulatory frameworks.
In this regard, João Lupi and Leonor de Sá e Frade stress that it is necessary to ‘develop solid regulatory frameworks, such as space debris management, space traffic management, resource use and property rights, security and militarisation, environmental protection and equitable access and benefits’.
