Pedro Alves da Silva is a Partner since 2021 and has been at Abreu Advogados since 2013. He focuses primarily on mergers and acquisitions, corporate law and commercial contracts.

More specifically he advises on corporate and financial matters, provides legal representation, advice and counselling to corporate clients in Portugal and abroad on general matters as well as mergers and acquisitions, spin-offs, corporate restructuring, asset purchases, creating investment vehicles, and private equity funding and venture capital financing.

As part of his mergers and acquisitions work, he carries out corporate and commercial due diligence, and attends to acquisition structure, and the negotiation and drafting of contracts. He has relevant experience in the industrial manufacturing and production sector, and the banking, aviation and transport, real estate, renewable energy, information technology, health, education, automotive and fuel distribution sectors.

He has led several project implementations in Portugal for foreign group companies and headed up multidisciplinary teams to ensure client support in all areas required for successful implementation.

He has also been involved in transactions in Angola and Mozambique, advising and providing support by networking with lawyers participating in the Abreu Advogados’ international network.

Since 2022, Pedro Alves da Silva is a visiting professor at Faculdade de Direito of Universidade Nova de Lisboa (subject: Interdisciplinary Legal Practice).

Experience

Advising a multinational telecommunications company on the acquisition and on the integration into its operations of a multi-jurisdictional company, and legal and corporate advice of a national and international nature.

Advising a multinational port management, shipping and logistics, on the refinancing and structuring of its activities in Portugal.

Advising an international corporate group on the structuring of a proposal and acquisition plan relating to a national air carrier, including corporate and legal due diligence, corporate structuring and drafting of contracts.

Advising an international fuel distribution group on the structuring of a market entry strategy for the Portuguese market, including corporate modelling, corporate structuring and drafting of contracts.

Advising an international finance group on the structuring of a proposal and acquisition plan relating to a reputable financial institution in Portugal, including corporate and legal due diligence, corporate structuring and drafting of contracts.

Advising an international group on the acquisition of shopping centres in Portugal, including legal and corporate due diligence and drafting of acquisition agreements.

Advising a Portuguese clinical laboratory group on corporate restructuring, including the merger of several of its group companies.

Actively participating in the process of preparing and negotiating various types of commercial agreements, including distribution agreements, sales and purchase agreements and service provision agreements.
