Francisca Salgado da Costa is a senior associate and has been at Abreu Advogados since 2023, working mainly in the Private Clients & Family Businesses sector.

She adopts an integrated and multidisciplinary approach in complex private wealth contexts, with a particular focus on the protection, preservation, and continuity of family and business assets. Her practice encompasses succession and estate planning, the structuring and reorganisation of assets, as well as contentious and pre-contentious matters arising in connection with these areas.

At the international level, she has substantial experience in Private International Law, cross-border wealth planning, divorce and parental responsibility proceedings, nationality matters, the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments, and the provision of legal assistance in Portugal in support of judicial proceedings pending in other jurisdictions.

Her practice is distinguished by its international dimension and by her ability to provide integrated legal counsel in multi-jurisdictional settings.

She also has noteworthy experience in matters relating to the legal framework governing supported decision-making for vulnerable adults, an area of growing relevance in the protection of individuals in situations of vulnerability.

She is regularly invited to speak at conferences, seminars, and specialised training programmes, having participated in leading initiatives, including at the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra, the Advanced Training Course on “The Principle of the Child’s Participation and Right to be Heard in the Portuguese Judicial System”, and the II Seminar of the Loures Municipal Network for Intervention in Domestic Violence, dedicated to the theme “Children as Victims of Domestic Violence in the Judicial Context”.
