Eduardo Peixoto Gomes is a Partner and has been at Abreu Advogados since 2006, working primarily in mergers and acquisitions, private investment operations, commercial and real estate contracts, corporate restructuring, recovery and insolvency, including in the context of Special Revitalization Procedures.

He focuses particularly on monitoring company mergers and acquisitions operations, in corporate restructuring proceedings, on advising members of the board of large companies and on disagreements between shareholders.

He has extensive experience advising family owned businesses, including in the transmission from one generation to the next.

He also has relevant experience in the areas of shipping and international services, advising international banks and ship owners within the context of the Madeira International Business Center.

Work Experience

Advising a multinational company in the aeronautical industry on the acquisition and equity interest of another company in the same sector;

Advising on the acquisition of an optical group, the largest transaction of its kind in the sector in Portugal;

Advising a family owned group in its restructure to ensure next generation transfer;

Coordination of an acquisition operation of a portfolio of mortgages for a British bank;

Advising financial institutions, investment funds and companies on noteworthy; insolvency and restructuring processes.

Advising Norwegian, French and Danish banks in the context of financing vessels and subsequent registration before MAR – International Ship Register of Madeira, creating liens and issuing legal opinions regarding operations and implications;

Advising ship-owners on the acquisition, sale and registration of vessels before MAR - International Ship Registration of Madeira;

Advice on the acquisition of super yachts registered in foreign jurisdictions (Malta and Jamaica), including transfer of registration to MAR – Madeira International Ship Registry or Panama, and subsequent sale.
