Imisi de Almeida, trainee lawyer at Abreu Advogados, is a co-author of the work Corporate Governance Studies — in Honour of Professor Paulette Lopes, a professor at the Faculty of Law of Agostinho Neto University in Angola, recognising her contribution to International Law and to the training of legal professionals.

The chapter co-authored by Imisi de Almeida addresses corporate governance in the Angolan banking sector, beginning by framing the concept and its context in the country, and highlighting the specific features of the banking industry. It analyses compliance challenges in light of domestic regulation, as well as the importance of accountability in management, including remuneration policies and the role of supervisory entities such as the law and the Central Bank.

Finally, it illustrates these issues with practical cases of financial misconduct in Angolan banks, highlighting weaknesses in the system, and concludes by reinforcing the need for greater transparency, oversight, and good governance practices.
