The European automotive industry plays a crucial role in driving economic success across the continent.
Employing more than 13 million people directly and indirectly, the sector generates approximately €1 trillion in GDP, making it one of the largest contributors to the European economy.
Following the Strategic Dialogue on the Future of the Automotive Industry in Europe, launched in January, the European Commission is expected to take further steps in implementing concrete strategies and solutions to support the industry’s global competitiveness.
The Action Plan for the European automotive industry is set to be presented in the first week of March. It aims to ensure that the EU remains one of the world’s leading players while preserving jobs and production capacity in Europe.
This Plan will cover the entire value chain, from securing critical supply chains to ensuring price affordability, from refuelling and recharging infrastructure to fully harnessing automation and data, while simultaneously supporting the industry in its transition towards decarbonisation.
