Tiago Castanheira Marques is a Professional Partner and has been at Abreu Advogados since 2008. He works primarily in the area of conflict resolution, specifically in matters involving civil litigation, corporate litigation, arbitration, mediation, and employment litigation.

He is experienced in advising clients in Portugal and abroad on matters of civil and commercial litigation related to contract breaches, civil liability, debt recovery and contract non-performance.

He also has extensive experience in advising on transactions involving the assignment of loans held by Portuguese banks in respect of companies in default of their contractual obligations.

In matters of employment law, he also advises companies on human resources management and on proceedings related to disciplinary action, particularly those involving disciplinary proceedings for dismissal with just cause. His experience advising companies includes advice and consultancy on issues related to employment litigation and conducting legal and administrative proceedings.

Advising a multinational group in the food industry on transferring employees to another company, and providing daily support on labour matters, including legal proceedings.

Advising a multinational company in the aviation sector on the acquisition and privatisation of all group companies.

Advising a postal services company on organisational restructuring, including the negotiation-based termination of employment contracts.

Advising many different national companies on lodging objections on the grounds of illegitimacy and illegality in cases involving the dismissal of senior management.

Advising a multinational company in the electronics sector on the recovery of funds in credit withheld by its distributor, a Portuguese company.

Advising a leading audio and telecommunications solutions manufacturer on litigation arising from the termination of a distribution contract which it had with a Portuguese company.

Advising a Portuguese real estate investment fund on various legal proceedings arising from the activating a guarantee clause in a real estate construction contract.

Advising a Portuguese company on the acquisition of mortgage loans held by Portuguese banks on which Portuguese companies had defaulted.
