Maria Eduarda Borges is a senior associate lawyer and has been at Abreu Advogados since 2016, working mainly in the area of litigation and arbitration.

Since the beginning of her career, she has sought to specialise in criminal procedural practice, and has also participated in the preparation, development and implementation of compliance programmes, both in the criminal and misdemeanour areas, without forgetting the importance of complementing her practice by mastering and keeping up-to-date with other related branches of law.

She has been particularly involved in monitoring cases related to white collar crime (with a special focus on money laundering) in various European and third country jurisdictions.

She also monitors labour-related administrative offences.

Judicial representation of Venezuelan businessmen in proceedings related to the prohibition on the use of funds provided for in the European regulation and legal advice on a subsequent diplomatic matter;

Judicial representation of political office holders in economic and financial crime cases;

Participation in providing legal advice to various Portuguese municipalities and other public entities;

Participation in the development and implementation of compliance programmes for multinationals in the real estate sector;

Representing companies in the hotel sector in administrative offence proceedings;

Representing several CPLP countries in criminal proceedings involving economic business activities.
